Current event regarding self driving trucks

Nearly 500,000 trucking accidents occur each year in America and of these around 5,000 result in fatalities.  Road accidents happen from many different reasons but one main cause is Human error. If the human part of the equation is removed would the result be fewer accidents? Many companies are now testing the possibility of having self-driving trucks. Although now there are many unresolved issues, researchers say that in the long run it will be safer and less costly. “This system often drives better than I do,” says Greg Murphy, who’s been a professional truck driver for 40 years. He now serves as a safety backup driver during tests of self-driving trucks by Otto, a San Francisco company that outfits trucks with the equipment needed to drive themselves.The technology used is a called a lidar system, which uses a pulsed laser to amass detailed data about the truck’s surroundings. This may seem to just resemble the issues with self driving cars; however, self driving trucks has much more economic drive than driver-less cars. Driver-less trucks can coordinate their movements to platoon closely together over long stretches of highway, cutting down on wind drag and saving on fuel. The problems facing these companies are being able to provide the technology that can handle the truck the same as or even better than a professional driver with years of experience, in varying road conditions and what not. The other issue is the 1.7 million truckers who would be potentially out of a job should this new advancement take place. It is pointed out however that this technology is far from taking over the market but it should prove to be controversial as it develops and comes forward. While these trucks have no human at the wheel, humans are still involved in the process. Otto makes it clear that it will be at least a decade before they can provide a truck that can completely drive itself with no human involvement or supervision.

My weekend

I had a very enjoyable weekend. I attended Prom with one of my friends and danced the night away in the Ironwoods barn. I wore a stunning plaid jacket and the crowd was blown away by my sense of style. We took pictures at Loch Lloyd Country Club and then ate at The Grill at Park place where I partook of their calamari and french fries. It was a very satisfying meal to say the least. All in all, prom was a great time that made my weekend fantastic.

Spring Break

My spring break was spent in the beautiful, glorious Empire state New York. I attended the Big Apple with the Chambers Choir of BVHS and the one and only Marsha Moeller. The purpose of this trip to the Capitol of the World was to immerse ourselves in the world of performing arts to advance our talents and understanding of performing arts. It was a grand time walking the streets of the city so nice they named it twice with my friends and we had much fun. Below you will find some engaging pictures of my trip.

Infographic Reflection

This post is to record my journey through the world of info graphics and the enormous impact they have on society and education. Personally, I very much enjoyed the special experience I had while making my own info graphic. Info graphics can be very useful in explaining new information in a fun and engaging way. It allows you to put your creative ability to good use and as famous actor, Steve Buscemi says, "It doesn't matter what part I play, I try and commit myself 100 percent".

Canva v. Lucid Press

In my own personal opinion, I believe Canva to be the superior platform for all of your document crafting needs. But wait, both have pros and cons I suppose:
Canva Pros:
- Had many, easily accessible, free images to implement in your documents.
- Was very easy to format the templates

Cons:
- Many images, however, cost money
- Creating an account was troublesome

LucidPress Pros:
- Easy to create an account
- Had many templates to choose from

Cons:
- Not as user friendly with tools and such
- Difficult to change aspects of template and such

Canva overall provided a more trendy document making experience and while some aspects did cost money, there were many free things to choose from that allowed you to express your inner document making spirit with ease.

My Dream Business

It has always been my dream to take pictures of animals in a cute and expressive way. The name of my dream is Furtography which is a combination of the words fur and photography which is to mean that I will taking pictures of animals. I will accept all animals and I will locate my business in the center of Johnson County when people are likely to spoil their animals. Below are my business documents made through Lucidpress.com. This is my glorious, two sided Thank You card made with the online creation station Canva.com. Being this inspired is truly a gift.

  Also on display is my custom made Twitch banner. I devoted my heart and soul to these projects and I am pleased with their outcome.

Words for Teenagers

These words for teenagers, spoken by John Tapene, reach me on a personal level. His advice speaks to me in a way that no newspaper clipping has before. He advises us to grow up and start taking responsibility for our own actions, claiming that the world does not owe us anything but rather the other way around. We mustn't rely on others for our entertainment or to make life meaningful but rather we should put meaning into the way we live our lives. I feel like a new person having read this clipping.

Social Bookmarking Current Event

Something that I realized from reading this article is that Social Bookmarking grows as we use it everyday. Every person customizes their own usage of these websites and as they do the websites and tools develop and grow.

I believe that Social Bookmarking if used efficiently can be a great tool to make the most of your online presence. As it continues to grow it can become more efficient and useful.

One website that I've heard much about is Reddit. It's an online forum that can provide you with information and links you to other websites and such.

Social Bookmarking is defined as a centralized online service which allows users to add, annotate, edit, and share bookmarks of web documents. Social bookmarking can greatly impact your life as you strive to implement the many wonders of the internet. It allows you to save and share your favorite websites with all of your friends with ease while providing instant access to said websites. One specific social bookmarking tool that is used often in my home is Pinterest. My mother, Susan, uses Pinterest to find and share the craftiest of crafts, new recipes, and exciting inspirational quotes. 1-20-17 - Prezi Reflection

In the comparison between Powerpoint and Prezi, I truly believe with all my heart that Powerpoint is the superior program. Not only is it more user friendly but it provides a more formal and business like tone. Prezi can be a great tool if the user has much experience and is familiar with it but can prove to be quite challenging to get the hang of especially in a more serious setting. Powerpoint is truly a crowd favorite that will stay at the top of its class in this ever changing world because of its familiarity and sophisticated feel that appeals to everybody.
